Whats your favorite board, and if you can try and describe what you like about it?

I surf mostly in New England and like a board that gives me standard shortboard performance with more float and a bit more width since we're surfing small/flat waves quite often. My favorite board is a 5'10" Xanadu that's 19 3/4 x 2 5/8. It's great for smaller days when there's a bit of push to the waves, but I need a board that works for smaller days (waist high -)

I've been surfing off and on for the past four years or so. I live in Maryland so the surf is fairly week. A long board (9'2") seems to do the trick most days and a hybrid (6'4" but thick) keeps me happy when things pick up.

Eventually, I'd like to learn to surf a true short board. But for my current location and skill set, I'm good.

Nice, you guys getting any swell lately? Its been flat here in Southern California for about the past two weeks, it sucks. haha. It was such a good winter, and now that theres no waves im just sitting here remembering all the killer sessions I wish I would have just stayed out for another hour or two.
Oh well, eventually the waves will come. haha.

Surfed this weekend in Rhode Island, small but fun waist-chest sets. I'm headed to San Diego next week with my wife for a surf vacation, looks like a few SW swells headed that way right in time for our trip...stoked!!

NIce. That is some good timing, you'll definately get some south swell next week.

I learned to surf in Kauai about seven years ago. My favorite board is called the wonderpig. Its about 6'2" x 20"wide x 3"thick. Short, fat, plug fish. The thickness allows me to keep up with the longboarders and it get me through the flat sections. Its just small enough to duckdive but allows me to carve all over the face. I definitely downsize for the heavier spots and bigger days. Learned to surf on a short board but it was more of a struggle to catch waves. Finally tried longboarding 9'0" and it has its perks with a different feel and style. I say...it's all good as long as your in the water. Aloha.

I have only been surfing for the past year and a half but I made excellent an choice (educated by boyfriend) when picking my longboard... its a 9'2" round nose, pin tail with double concave and a nice rocker. It has really helped me to get into the sport, now I am stealing my boyfriends fat fish, it rides like a longboard but I am learning to duck dive. Its a 6'2" retro fish with quad fins and nice fat rails... making the tranisition to short boarding:)

Yeah retro fish are a great step down board for sure! Great for summer time flat spells too.
